Dealing with an AC problem is the last thing that anyone wants to deal with in the summertime. There are a number of different issues you may run into with your AC system because of the many working parts that make up your system. There are some problems that are more common than others. Ambient Heating & Air Conditioning is here to talk about some of the most common problems we see with residential AC systems.
Watch for These Common AC Problems
When you’re experiencing an issue with your AC, you want to get it fixed as soon as possible to avoid discomfort. While there are many different issues that you can run into, there are some that are more common than others. Here are some common AC repairs that homeowners experience.
– Bad Capacitor: There is nothing worse than turning on the thermostat to the cooling setting and having warm air come out of the vents. There is definitely something wrong that needs to be addressed. One common problem that often results in this is a bad capacitor. If there is any buzzing or humming that is also present, this is more than likely the issue.
– Low Refrigerant: Another reason you could be feeling warm air is low refrigerant levels. Refrigerant cycles through your AC in a closed system and should never have to be replenished unless there is a leak somewhere. If the leak is mild, it can usually be repaired. However, if there is a significant leak, you will more than likely be facing a total AC replacement.
– Clogged Condensate Line: Your AC works to not only cool the air in your house, but it also removes the moisture and humidity out of the air as well. As it removes the moisture, that water has to drain. It should be able to drain out of the condensate drain. Sometimes, this drain can get clogged with gunk that builds up over time. It can cause a number of issues for your AC system when this happens.
– Failing Blower Motor: The blower motor located inside your AC is responsible for pushing the air throughout the system and into your home. If the blower motor isn’t working properly, you can run into issues getting any cool air out of your vents. When there is a problem with this important part, you will more than likely hear some loud, strange noises coming from the system. Fix it as soon as possible to get your system back up and running again.
