How Does an Evaporator Coil Work?

The evaporator coil works to cool your home with the help of refrigerant. It gets this liquid gold from the condenser coil and compressor that is located inside the outdoor unit. While a fan blows the warm air found in your home across the evaporator coil, it is cooled down. It removes the moisture from the air at the same time. As the air blows across the coil, the moisture condenses on them. This moisture then drips off of the coils into a condensate pan and drains through a pipe that is known as the condensate drain line.

Do Evaporator Coils Need to Be Cleaned?

Just like all the other parts found in your AC unit, it is important that you maintain your evaporator coil. You do this by keeping them clean. They can often collect dirt and debris as they do their job. If this happens, they are far less efficient.
