If you pay really close attention you may notice that the rooms that are too warm on a hot day or too cold on those winter days. That is a great sign that there is something that needs to be inspected and repaired. There is usually a reason behind one or more rooms having a different temperature than the rest of the house. The rooms should all even out and be about the same degree so once you realize you have a room that is off you need to know what you can do to fix the problem.

Ambient Heating & Air Conditioning Lists Reasons You Might Have One Room Colder Or Warmer Than The Rest Of The House

Are the Central HVAC Vents Open: This may seem like a silly thing but this is often times the reason a room is not cooling or heating the room properly. The vent is usually on the ceiling somewhere which is the grated hole. The vent has a damper that can be opened and closed depending on the amount of air you want to allow to come in that room. Occasionally the vent will be closed all the way off and that will lead to little or no air getting in the room. If you notice the temperature is off in a room the first step is to check the vent to see if it is open all the way. If it is not this may be the reason the room is lacking.
Collapsed or Damaged Air Duct: Another problem that you might see when your home is unbalanced with air is from the air ducts. The air ducts are the series of tubing that runs along the homes attic space. These tubes will sometimes have some sort of damage. The damage can be a small split in the duct or a piece that has become unattached. When this happens the room that is at the end of the duct will not be getting the same amount of air that the rest of the house is getting. This is not damage that you can repair on your own and you will need to have an HVAC company out. They can inspect and repair the damage for you.
Poor Insulation: Another problem can be from the insulation in your home. There is insulation in the walls, along the air duct and even the floors on a two level home. When you have a lack of insulation you might notice that a room is not able to keep the cooled or heated air as long as others. That will make the room feel warmer or colder than the rest of the house. You can have insulation added to the walls and the air ducts rewrapped.
