When you fan starts the metal ductwork can pop due to the negative pressure of the fan, same applies when the fan turns off, the pressure releases and the duct pops back out. This type of problem often occurs when the duct is undersized, the filter is clogged, the vents are closed or the duct needs additional bracing.
Rumbling Noises from Gas or Oil Furnaces
